Need a crash course on what’s involved in creating anime? Check this series out. Rather than starting with a printed manga to animate (this series is based on a printed manga after all) we follow the trials and tribulations of three “misfit“ Japanese high school girls who labor to set up an anime club as a cover for very real anime production experiments.

One is an engineering oriented artist with an overactive imagination and a lust for detail. One is a refugee from an upper class modeling career who wants to write and illustrate stories. The third is a shrewd and calculating manager type with few social skills but a real talent for promotion and strategy.

Together they tackle challenges that would daunt lesser mortals and along the way we get some fascinating insights into the tricks of the anime trade. And to top it all off the series is funny, wild, and gorgeous to look at!
