Wes Anderson's THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL
Review by Dennis D. McDonald
This is one of those movies where I found myself wondering how it is possible to be anywhere near as creative as writer-director Wes Anderson.
The typical word used for Anderson films is “quirky” but that doesn’t do justice in this case. The level of work that has gone into this film, ranging from precious miniatures to sumptuous set design and photography, is just amazing.
Everything fits together. Central to all is the main character played by Ralph Fiennes who again displays incredible range and versatility. But the entire cast shines as well.
There’s a surprise around every corner as character shuffle in and out. Highly entertaining, consistently funny, and quite charming overall with a healthy dose of craziness.
