Monthon Arayangkoon's THE VICTIM

Monthon Arayangkoon's THE VICTIM

Movie review by Dennis D. McDonald

This Thai ghost story/crime thriller is convoluted, intense — and scary. There’s a minimum of blood and sex. The characters keep us interested. The story takes some surprising plot twists. I kept wondering, “What’s going to happen next?”

The story: a struggling actress is hired by the police to re-enact crime scenes. This morphs into  film crew making a thriller about a murdered beauty queen/dancer. Vengeful ghosts haunt the sets. Tragedies occur.

I enjoyed the performance by the young actress Phitchanat Sakhakon. She skillfully projects both goofy amateurishness and professional coolness. Plus she screams real good.
