Jae-yeong Jeong as the village’s corrupt boss

This is the review I posted on Netflix after watching this streamed Korean mystery/thriller:

Excellent film. Well plotted, excellent acting, great photography, better than average subtitles. Surprising how tense it gets at times. Good use of cell phones to advance story. 

Another thing: the makeup in this movie is incredible but you probably won’t realize that till you start seeing flashbacks and you see actors like Jae-yeong Jeong as younger men.

The story: a troubled young man leaves Seoul to visit a country village where his father has just died. When he gets there he smells something fishy — Things Are Not As They Seem both about his father’s death and about the hold the town’s boss have over its people. The young man investigates and things start to unravel very nastily.

Check it out. It may seem slow at times and the plot may seem over complicated, but it’s definitely worth hanging in there. A great suspense film.
