JAPAN's LONGEST DAY

By Dennis D. McDonald

This is a documentary style movie about the Japanese government’s heated internal debate about whether or not to accept the Allies’ demands for unconditional surrender at the end of World War II.

At one point I became so emotionally engaged I wanted to hit Toshiro Mifune’s character on the side of his head with a frying pan for insisting that the hopeless struggle be prolonged.
